LINGGA: Road construction projects are expected to boost land value and create new economic opportunities for rural communities while strengthening connectivity in interior areas.

Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang said improved road infrastructure could act as a catalyst for development by easing access and encouraging economic activities among rural residents.

He urged communities to capitalise on the improved accessibility by developing their land through activities that could generate income and improve their families’ livelihoods.

“For me, roads act as facilitators because they not only expand connectivity networks, but also make the development process easier and open up economic opportunities for residents.

“That is why I hope residents will not miss the opportunity to develop their respective land through activities that can generate returns and improve family well-being,” he said when officiating at the presentation of appointment and extension letters for community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) at Rumah Suka Minggu on Thursday (March 12).

During the event, Mong also announced a RM200,000-allocation under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Bukit Begunan constituency in 2027 to carry out site preparation works for new houses in Jungkong Pandak B.

He also presented a Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation of RM7,000 to the Jungkong Pandak B Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), along with an additional RM3,000 for the organisation’s women’s bureau.
