KUCHING: Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, has alerted the public about scammers impersonating her on Facebook by using a fake account with her name and photo.
She asserted that these fraudsters are attempting to deceive people by creating accounts that mimic her official pages, falsely claiming to offer financial aid.
“I strongly urge the public to always remain vigilant and not be deceived by their actions.
“For information, all my official dealings and announcements will only be made through my verified accounts with the official blue tick,” she said in a Facebook post.
Nancy shared links to her official Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) accounts to help the public identify genuine profiles.
One of the fraudulent messages falsely claimed that Nancy was offering financial assistance through a collaboration between a United States of America (USA) humanitarian agency and the Malaysian Government.
The scam message also told victims they were among 300 selected individuals eligible for aid.
Nancy has urged the public to avoid engaging with scammers, reminding Malaysians to verify the authenticity of any communication before responding.
“Stay alert, protect your families, and let’s work together to prevent fraud that could cause financial losses,” she added.
