KUCHING: The World Bidayuh Golf Championship (WGBC) will be back this year after a three-year hiatus.
Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn will sponsor the tournament.
Togap Golf Club president Dr Simon Sinang Bada said the 16th edition of the WGBC was scheduled to be held in early June in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak festival.
“We will keep all members updated on the date, venue and others matters.
“Togap will be the organiser for this year’s WBGC,” he said after leading a delegation on a courtesy call Sagah yesterday (March 2).
Dr Sinang said the visit was to brief Sagah on the WBGC.
Meanwhile, Dr Sinang also informed that another event prior to WBGC would be the Togap President Cup which would be held prior to the club’s annual general meeting in May.
“Our youth programme will also resume this year,” he said.
The WBGC was first held in 2005, and attracted more than 100 participants in pre-COVID-19 pandemic editions.
