SIBU: A 36-year-old man was ordered to be put behind bars for a year by the Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday after he was found guilty of stealing a motorcycle.
Magistrate Oon Kork Chern convicted Mohammed Khairul Faizal from Kampung Hilir of the offence after he pleaded guilty.
Khairul was found to have stolen a Demak MV motorcycle belonging to Christopher Gerinang at a shophouse along Jalan Maludan on June 9 at about 1:39 am.
According to the brief facts, on June 9 at about 7:30 am, the complainant (Christopher) discovered his motorcycle which was parked in the area was missing.
Following police report and investigation, the accused was arrested.
He then led a police team headed by Insp. Andrew to a bush at Jalan Sentosa where the stolen motorcycle was found to have been dismantled.
The dismantled machine parts were then seized and taken back to the police station for further investigation.
In mitigation, the accused who has no legal representation, pleaded for a lighter sentence.
