KUCHING: The group of young men, who walked out without paying for their meal at a popular local restaurant yesterday, has now settled the bill, thanks to their family stepping in.

Ceylonese Restaurant Sdn Bhd shared an update on their social media, confirming that the matter has been resolved.

“Good news! The group involved in the recent dine-and-dash has now settled the bill. Their family came forward and made the payment.

“We are glad the situation was resolved quickly and respectfully. Thanks to everyone who shared support and helped spread the word,” the restaurant said.

The original incident, which occurred around 5:00 pm, involved four young men who exited the restaurant one by one without paying, despite requesting for the bill.

The restaurant had released screenshots from their CCTV footage, and called on the group to do the right thing.

The incident drew widespread attention online, with many netizens condemning the act, and suggesting preventive measures such as implementing a pay-upon-serving policy.
