BINTULU: Three locals suspected of substance abuse activities were nabbed by narcotics police here over the weekend.
Bintulu OCPD Supt Batholomew Umpit said the first arrest happened in Jalan Tun Hussein Onn last Saturday (June 11).
“We arrested a 23-year-old man for drug abuse. He tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine later.
“The suspect will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000, or a jail term of up to two years and two years of supervision, if convicted.”
Meanwhile, the second and third arrests were made last Sunday (June 12) in Jalan Masjid and Jalan Tun Hussein Onn respectively.
Supt Batholomew added that the suspects were aged 47 and 49. “One will be investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 after we found and seized 0.6g of drugs believed to be syabu.”
“The Section provides for a jail term of up to five years and a fine of up to RM100,000, upon conviction,” he elaborated.
Both men also tested positive for drugs and will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
