BINTULU: Anjung Kasih at Bintulu Hospital is the first facility of its kind in Sarawak to integrate a digital management system to handle the registration and accommodation processes for patients’ family members.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Anjung Kasih Management System enables information on families staying at the facility to be stored in a more systematic manner.
“When information is entered into digital records, we are able to track the family members staying here, including identifying their villages of origin.
“Digitalisation is important in this new era because it makes it easier for family members and individuals to deal with Anjung Kasih, while also allowing important records to be stored in a central database.
“It is my hope that the Anjung Kasih planned for Kuching will follow the same approach by adopting digital technology,” he said this when speaking at the launching ceremony of Anjung Kasih at Bintulu Hospital here today.
Abang Johari said the opening of Anjung Kasih at Bintulu Hospital is not merely the introduction of a new facility, but also reflects the values of humanity, compassion and togetherness.
“Close family members usually accompany patients to provide moral encouragement and social support, but at times they do not have a place to stay, while hotel accommodation can be costly.
“That is why this facility is necessary, given Sarawak’s unique geographical landscape, where many patients from rural and interior areas have to travel to major hospitals for treatment,” he said.
He added that the initiative is in line with the emphasis on social inclusivity under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
“The Sarawak government will continue to safeguard the welfare of the people regardless of their background, including those who require educational assistance and social support,” he said.
Abang Johari also stressed the importance of maintaining the facility properly so that it can continue benefiting families accompanying patients.
Meanwhile, he expressed his appreciation to Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) for fully sponsoring the construction cost of the facility for the well-being of the people.
“That commitment demonstrates that the corporate sector not only serves as a driver of economic growth.
“It is also capable of becoming a partner in social development that delivers a direct and meaningful impact on the well-being of the people,” he said.
