KUCHING: Bintulu is set to become the centre of attention for muaythai enthusiasts when it hosts the 10th edition of the 2026 Sarawak Premier Cup Muaythai Championships.
Organised by the Sarawak State Muaythai Association (PMNS), the prestigious tournament will be held at Naim Street Mall Paragon, Bintulu from October 16 to 18.
PMNS’ President, Jumaat Ibrahim, said the association had yet to confirm the exact number of participants for this year’s competition.
However, he said the tournament would feature top muaythai fighters from various clubs across Sarawak, as well as competitors from several countries.
“The three-day tournament will be held at Naim Street Mall Paragon, Bintulu, and is expected to bring together top muaythai fighters from across Sarawak as well as representatives from various countries,” he told Sarawak Tribune recently.
Jumaat stressed that PMNS remained committed to strengthening the development of muaythai in Sarawak.
He described the continued organisation of the tournament as an important platform for nurturing new talents and developing the next generation of muaythai athletes.
“We organise this tournament not only as a platform to produce more champions in muaythai at the Sarawak level, but also to take them beyond the national stage and onto the world stage.
“Given the positive development of the sport, many Sarawakian athletes have already made their mark at national and international level,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jumaat expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) and other relevant agencies for their continued support and cooperation in making the tournament possible.
