BINTULU: Bintulu, particularly the Samalaju area, has emerged as the main driver in the implementation of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), with a strong focus on energy, petrochemical, and globally competitive downstream industries.
Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Majang Renggi, said the rapid growth in the area demonstrates that the state government’s strategy under the leadership of the Premier is on the right track to deliver benefits directly to the people.

“Beyond being a major industrial hub, the development of supporting infrastructure, business contract opportunities, and the involvement of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will also ensure that the economic benefits reach the community directly.
“This effort shows how the policies outlined under PCDS 2030 are translated to the grassroots level and bring tangible impacts to people’s lives,” he said.
He was speaking at the closing of the Briefing and Explanation on PCDS 2030 Initiatives and Strategies here on Sunday (Aug 24).
Majang stressed that the Sarawak government is committed to ensuring that the state’s economic growth is enjoyed by all segments of society.
He added that the education sector must also play a vital role in producing highly skilled and competitive workers who are ready to meet the needs of industries in Bintulu.
In addition to industry and education opportunities, Majang, who is also Samalaju assemblyman, said the Sarawak government continues to prioritise the people’s welfare through initiatives such as housing assistance, business loans, scholarships, skills training, and social programmes aimed at improving the overall well-being of society.
“Two-way interaction through programmes like this allows the government to better understand the people’s needs and adjust policies to make them more relevant and effective.
“This is the true value of PCDS,” Majang said.
At the same time, he urged the community to take advantage of the development opportunities available by proactively engaging with government agencies, seeking information, and becoming active partners in development.
“With the strong support of the people, the spirit of unity can be strengthened to build a more advanced, prosperous, and competitive Sarawak,” he added.
Also present were the Chief Political Secretary to the Premier, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, and the Bintulu District Officer, Awang Mohamed Nizam Awang Ali Bohan.
