SHANGHAI: Bintulu Port recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) to improve efficiency and digital capability.
According to its press statement, the agreement culminated on the successful implementation of the Port Operation Terminal System at Bintulu Port.
It added that the collaboration would explore ways to improve operational efficiency, digital transformation, and the intelligent upgrading of facilities and equipment.
“The move would strengthen Bintulu Port’s position as an efficient port operator in Malaysia and within the evolving global maritime industry.
Additionally, it said that this collaboration also supports Sarawak’s Green and Smart Port aspiration under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030, and is expected to bring technological advancement to Bintulu Port.
“This alliance reflects Sarawak’s efforts to bring in global expertise and strengthen business and operational synergies as it works towards a more technologically advanced port,” added the statement.
The documents were signed at SIPG’s head office in Shanghai by Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad president and group chief executive officer, Datuk Ruslan Abdul Ghani and Shanghai International Port Group Co Ltd vice president Liu Changman.
The signing was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Digital, Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.
