KUCHING: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) continues to support community welfare and cultural heritage through four corporate social responsibility (CSR) and collaboration initiatives held in conjunction with Sarawak Regatta 2026.
The initiatives were presented during a symbolic handover ceremony attended by BPHB’s Chairman, Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, at Bintulu Port Booth, Kuching Waterfront, today.
BPHB’s Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Anuar Ismail, said the initiatives reflected the company’s commitment to social development and community well-being.
“The role of an organisation is not only focused on operational excellence and business performance, but also includes the responsibility to contribute to social development and community well-being,” he said.
The four initiatives included sponsorship for Sarawak Regatta 2026, CSR contributions to Asrama Akhlak (Perempuan) Kuching and Bintawa Maternal and Child Health Clinic, as well as a collaboration with MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak for Pickleball Fiesta 2026.
Anuar said this was the fourth year BPHB had supported Sarawak Regatta, although it would not be sending a team to compete.
He described the regatta as more than a water sports event, saying it represented Sarawak’s identity, unity and cultural heritage.
The contribution to Asrama Akhlak (Perempuan) Kuching involved essential items for its residents, while Bintawa Maternal and Child Health Clinic received chairs, cabinets and medical equipment.
Meanwhile, the collaboration with MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak aims to promote an active and healthy lifestyle through Pickleball Fiesta 2026.
Anuar said the programme’s final matches were scheduled to take place in Kuching in December 2026.
He hoped the initiatives would benefit the recipients and strengthen BPHB’s cooperation with various organisations in supporting community welfare and preserving Sarawak’s heritage.
