KUCHING: The Business Innovation & Technology Conference 2025 (BIT25) aims to empower Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with the tools and insights needed to thrive in the digital age.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin emphasised that technology is reshaping industries worldwide, making it crucial for businesses and individuals to equip themselves with the knowledge and digital solutions necessary to remain competitive.

“Events like BIT25 provide a platform for businesses to learn, collaborate, and embrace key technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and enterprise cybersecurity.

“Our digital transformation journey is not just about business; it is about creating a more connected, efficient, and sustainable Sarawak,” he said while officiating at BIT25 at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here yesterday (Feb 21).

Highlighting advancements in the transport sector, Lee noted Sarawak’s progress with initiatives such as hydrogen-powered buses, a green transportation solution aligned with renewable energy efforts, and the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART), which is set to revolutionise urban mobility, reduce congestion, and enhance connectivity.

“These developments are part of Sarawak’s commitment to a low-carbon, technology-driven economy, ensuring that our state remains at the forefront of sustainable innovation,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in driving digitalisation efforts.

While government agencies like Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) play a key role, he said the support of industry players is essential to achieving Sarawak’s vision of becoming a leading digital economy.

“BIT25 exemplifies this spirit of collaboration, bringing together key partners to support businesses in adopting digital solutions. This ecosystem of innovation will accelerate Sarawak’s economic transformation and position us as a leader in the digital economy,” he said.

Addressing workforce readiness, he pointed out that one of the key challenges in digital transformation is ensuring that employees are equipped with the right skills and knowledge.

“BIT25 helps businesses invest in their employees, preparing them with the expertise and networks needed to drive growth in a digital-driven economy.
