TANJUNG MALIM, Perak: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the handover ceremony of the Special Financial Assistance (BKK) to Sarawak students this July.

TVS reported that the matter was confirmed by Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

He shared the update when met by the media after attending the Sarawak Education Inspiration Dialogue organised by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) here today.

TVS quoted Dr Annuar as saying that the first phase of the BKK has closed, with over 41,000 applications received, and that the second phase is expected to open in September.

“The approval of applications is expected to be finalised by the end of June,” he was reported as saying.

On the disbursement method, Dr Annuar explained that the RM1,200 aid will be channelled via Sarawak Pay (S Pay Global).

However, recipients will be allowed to transfer the funds to the DuitNow app for ease of transactions.

“We understand that not all vendors accept S Pay Global.

“Therefore, transferring the funds to DuitNow is permitted,” he added.
