Netflix’s popular K-action series “Bloodhounds” is returning with its highly anticipated second season.
With the release just over a week away, the show has already claimed the No. 1 spot in viewer anticipation, recording a 23 per cent anticipation rate, according to entertainment portal Allkpop’s report on the “March Week 4, 2026 OTT K-Original Content Viewer Evaluation”.
“Bloodhounds Season 2” will premiere on April 3, and Netflix recently released new action stills from the upcoming season.
The images highlight upgraded fight sequences, featuring lead characters Geon Woo (Woo Do Hwan), Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yi), and a new antagonist, Baek Jung (Jung Ji Hoon), Allkpop said.
Season 1, released in June 2023, achieved rapid international success. Allkpop noted that it topped Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English TV category within seven days and reached No. 1 in 22 countries, including Korea, Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Turkey. It also appeared in the Top 10 in 40 countries worldwide. The series attracted approximately 28 million viewing hours in its first week, reflecting the global appeal of K-action, and earned an IMDb rating of 8.8.
Season 2 raises the stakes, moving beyond the domestic loan shark underworld into a global illegal boxing league. Geon Woo, now a champion, and Woo Jin face a new, formidable opponent Baek Jung, played by Jung Ji Hoon. The character is described as a highly skilled and ruthless figure who will challenge the heroes on multiple levels.
Actors Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi returned to intense physical training to prepare for the new season. Woo Do Hwan emphasised further developing Geon Woo’s strength, while Lee Sang Yi deepened his boxing experience, even competing in an amateur tournament. Action director Jung Sung Ho noted that the fighters’ styles have evolved, combining power, speed, and strategic footwork.
Viewer response to the first trailer has been largely positive, with fans praising the action sequences and the actors’ performances. Reactions to Jung Ji Hoon as the new villain have been mixed but attentive, reflecting interest in his portrayal compared to Season 1’s antagonist, Allkpop reported.
