LAWAS: A 56-year-old man was found dead early this morning inside an orchard drain in Sg Arur, Long Tuma, Jln Lawas Damit, here.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department reported receiving a distress call at 8. 28 am.
Upon arrival, the Fire Department used a stretcher to carry the victim to a secure location, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
According to the operation commander, the victim, identified as Ricky Siring, is believed to have fallen into the drain while attempting to walk on a wooden plank bridge.
His son discovered him unconscious in the drain around 7.40 am and immediately contacted the Fire Department.
Earlier, the victim’s wife had asked their son to check on him after he failed to return home to take her to work.
The body has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.
