DARO: The body of an Indonesian man who was reported missing after falling into the Penasu River on Sunday was found afloat today (Sept 23).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim, identified as Randi, 22, was discovered by local villagers around 8.30 am, about 2km from where he was last seen.

His body was then handed over to the police to be transported to Sibu Hospital for further action.

Following the discovery, the search and rescue (SAR) operation ended at 11.30 am.

The incident occurred at 10.45 am when the victim was working on a jetty construction site near Kampung Penasu. At the time, he was wearing a black shirt, black trousers, and shoes.

A preliminary search was carried out to locate him but was unsuccessful.
