DARO: The search for a man who went missing after falling into the sea near Tanjung Sirik here ended today (Dec 13) when his body was found about 3.5 nautical miles from Pantai Tekajong.
Tanjung Manis Maritime Zone director Maritime Commander Mahkos Juing said the victim was discovered by local fishermen who had joined the search alongside enforcement agencies and villagers.
The body was later brought to Kampung Tekajong Jetty, where health officials and family members confirmed the deceased as Aldin Rakli, 59.
Police then transported the remains to Daro Hospital.
With the discovery, all search assets and the Forward Operating Base were withdrawn at 1.20 pm.
Mahkos extended condolences to the family and thanked agencies and community members who assisted throughout the three-day operation.
He also reminded coastal communities to avoid going out during rough weather and to observe safety procedures at sea. Emergencies can be reported via 999 or the nearest maritime operations centre.
