KANOWIT: The Kanowit Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) retrieved a body found floating near the Shell wharf gas station today (Dec 2).

According to reports, the station received a call from the public requesting assistance in retrieving the body at 10.25am, prompting the dispatch of a team from its station to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters, with assistance from local villagers, retrieved the body and subsequently handed the deceased to the Kanowit police.

Meanwhile when asked by New Sarawak Tribune, Kanowit District police chief DSP Tega Bilong mentioned that currently, there are no updates from any nearby stations.

“We are waiting for reports of missing persons from any nearby police stations and the operations centre is still in contact with other colleagues.

“The cause and identity are still under investigation,” he said.
