SIBU: Five pupils from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Yong Seng, along with their five teachers and the school’s administrative staff, were rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) after the main road leading to the school was flooded.

According to a statement from the department, the road, Jalan Stabau, was submerged under one and a half feet of water.

“This situation meant that only heavy vehicles or four-by-four vehicles could pass through the area, preventing several school members from leaving,” the statement said today.

Bomba personnel were deployed to the location and assisted in relocating 11 individuals to a safe place before returning after ensuring the situation was secure.
