KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg launched the ‘Prinsip 3A Pembangunan Awam Sarawak’ book, which showcases success stories from the Sarawak Civil Service.
The publication also explains how the 3R principles – Revisit, Rethink and Recharge – had been translated into actions that strengthened governance.
State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the achievements highlighted in the book reflected the hard work, commitment and innovation of civil servants across all levels.
“None of these successes would be possible without the dedication shown by our public servants.
“As we celebrate progress, let us remember that transformation is not only about systems or policies, but also about people and mindset.
“Change is inevitable. Growth is optional. There can be no more ‘business as usual’. We cannot expect new results with old ways,” he said at the Public Service Day 2025 officiated by the Premier at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Abu Bakar encouraged civil servants to adapt their work culture in line with current demands by taking initiative, embracing change and being proactive.
He stressed that the 3R framework must be embraced to strengthen the public service.
“This is not just a slogan; it is a call to action and a guiding principle for how we think, act, and serve.
“We must have the courage to review and improve how we work, to identify gaps, bottlenecks, address inefficiencies, and ensure our services truly meet the needs and
expectations of the people and all our stakeholders,” he added.
Themed ‘Leading with Excellence: Sarawak Civil Service’s Path Forward’, the event gathered around 5,000 Sarawak and federal civil servants at BCCK.
During the event, Abang Johari also presented the Outstanding Officer Award 2024 to outstanding officers from both the federal and state civil service sectors.
