KUCHING: The Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM) Kuching Branch Bootcamp Solat Reunion programme empowered Muslim women while uniting mosques in the city for community collaboration.
Its chairwoman, Datuk Seri Sharifah Mordiah Tuanku Fauzi, said the programme serves as a starting point for Muslimah to enhance not only their prayers but also other acts of worship that positively benefit the community.
“I hope that this ‘dakwah’ initiative by PERKIM Kuching Branch will become a platform for stronger cooperation between both mosques for future activities, and will further benefit the surrounding communities,” she said.
She said this in her text speech read by PERKIM Kuching Branch Deputy Chairwoman, Zabariah Matali, when officiating the Bootcamp Solat Reunion closing ceremony at Darul Furqan Taman Malihan Mosque here today.

Prior to the reunion, two successful Solat Bootcamps were held earlier, with Bootcamp One conducted on September 28 at Darul Furqan Mosque and Bootcamp Two on November 16 at India Mosque.
Today’s reunion brought together more than 100 participants from both bootcamps.
Attendees included members of PERKIM Kuching Branch, Persatuan Kebajikan Tionghua Islam Sarawak (PERKTHIS), Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE), congregants from both mosques, Persekutuan Perkumpulan Wanita Sarawak, Urusetia Saudara Kita, Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (MACMA), as well as interested Muslimah from the community.
Sharifah Mordiah also expressed her appreciation to the Sarawak Mufti Department and Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) for their cooperation, strong support, and contributions towards making the programmes a success.
“I believe that every participant who attended both bootcamps has gained something valuable, whether in terms of knowledge, skills, or the strengthening of ‘ukhuwah’ among us as Muslims in Sarawak,” she said.
Meanwhile, Zabariah said that the bootcamp focused on strengthening the practice of obligatory and sunnah prayers, providing guidance for praying during illness, and correcting participants’ prayer recitations.
“And alhamdulillah, the response was very positive and very encouraging but because it is designed as a bootcamp, or a prayer training camp, we had to limit the number of participants to ensure that each one could fully benefit from the sessions we conducted.
“As for future plans, insya-Allah, we intend to hold similar programmes at other mosques,” she told the press.
She added that PERKIM Kuching is taking the initiative to collaborate and build partnerships with mosques, as mosques serve as the grassroots leaders in the community.
“By working with these grassroots leaders, insya-Allah, we can better deliver knowledge, especially related to ibadah.
“For next year, insya-Allah, we plan to focus more on youth, especially teenage girls, and also collaborate with more mosques,” she added.
