KUCHING: Borneo Fittest 2025 raises the bar for functional fitness events in Southeast Asia, reinforcing Sarawak’s growing identity as a regional sports and wellness hub.

The event roared to life on June 28-29 at the Ang Cheng Ho Quarry Multipurpose Hall, Batu Kawah, uniting elite athletes from across Malaysia and beyond for a celebration of fitness, teamwork and community.

Backed by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), and Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the event proved to be more than just a competition; it was a vibrant celebration of Sarawak as an emerging hub for fitness tourism and international sporting excellence.

Spectators were treated to non-stop adrenaline with crowd-favourite workouts, DJ Krizknight’s energising beats, engaging vendor activations, and a charged atmosphere that brought athletes and fans together.

Over 100 teams competed across categories in a weekend that fused competition, camaraderie, and culture.

In the Team Open category of Borneo Fittest 2025, Long Black from Kuala Lumpur clinched first place, followed by TST Bench Warmers from Singapore in second and Azskylex from Kota Kinabalu in third.

Meanwhile, the Team Intermediate category saw DNF from Brunei take top honours, with One Last Stand from Kuala Lumpur and Poland Teh Tarik from Kota Kinabalu rounding out the podium in second and third place, respectively.

The event was proudly supported by sponsors and partners including REWOD, Roxy Hotel, Big Pharmacy, Sunday Shades, Mayflower Car Rental Sdn Bhd Kuching, Recharge Saradise, and Ease Storage Sarawak.

CrossFit Kuching and Vortex Fitness Bintulu served as official gym partners, supporting athletes’ preparation and engagement across the region through training programs and community outreach.

A statement issued recently highlighted that the organisers were honoured by the presence of Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen, Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament, who officiated the podium ceremony.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) was also represented by the officers during the prize-giving ceremony.

“Borneo Fittest 2025 has once again cemented its reputation as one of Borneo’s leading functional fitness events, blending strength, unity, and culture.

“To all athletes, spectators, volunteers, vendors, and partners, thank you for being part of this phenomenal journey,” the statement read.
