Borneo Sonic Music Festival set to showcase K-pop royalty and international acts

The highly anticipated Borneo Sonic Music Festival, touted as the largest music festival in Borneo, is preparing to deliver an extraordinary line-up featuring K-pop royalty, including Taeyang from BigBang, CL, Suho (EXO), and HYO (Girls Generation).

Scheduled to captivate audiences on Oct 6 and 7, this ground-breaking extravaganza will take place at Sarawak Stadium, here.

Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah stressed that this festival signifies a significant milestone in positioning Sarawak as a prime destination for large-scale international events.

“Over the past few months, Sarawak has increasingly become a favoured destination for international events. This trend is expected to continue until the end of the year.

“As the state thrives in various sectors, we are committed to fostering and promoting locally grown events like the Borneo Music Festival,” he stated during a press conference on today (Aug 10).

He also revealed that the festival is projected to draw around 30,000 attendees over the course of the two days.

“I believe that this new event, co-organised by BME (International) Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Skyline Entertainment, and Dream Factory Entertainment, will bring about a transformative change in Sarawak’s entertainment and cultural landscape.”

Apart from the K-pop artists, the festival’s line-up features a diverse range of performers, including American Grammy Award-winning rapper Fatman Scoop, renowned Australian DJ Havana Brown, and local musical talents like Ning Baizura, Dolla, Belle Sisoski, Yung Kai, BG8LOCC, Nike Chen, Majin, and Melo Moon.

The press conference also saw the presence of deputy minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan, permanent secretary Datuk Sherrina Hussaini, BME managing director Steven Au, and Place Borneo CEO Mona Abdul Manap.
