BINTULU: A 13-year-old boy was found drowned at a waterfall in Kidurong this afternoon (Mar 21), while search operations continue for another teenager still missing.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at 3.22 pm reporting a drowning incident at the Sungai Plan Lot waterfall.

Firefighters from the Kidurong station were immediately dispatched to the scene, where two boys, both aged 13, were reported missing and feared to have drowned.

At 5.20 pm, rescuers located the body of one of the victims about five metres from the riverbank near the waterfall.

The water at the location is estimated to be about nine metres deep.

Initial reports indicated that the victims had gone swimming at around 2pm with two other friends — a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl.

The two victims were last seen at approximately 2.30 pm before they were reported missing.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with the Water Rescue Unit deployed to assist in locating the second missing teenager.
