SIBU: A young boy was rescued by firefighters after his foot got stuck in a drain cover at SJKC Sibu Jaya on Thursday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a distress call was received at 1.26 pm, and a team from Sibu Jaya station arrived at the scene two minutes later.
The eight-year-old victim, Felix Adrian, was found with his foot trapped in the metal drain cover.
Firefighters used a spreader from the power unit (RTA) to widen the gap and free his foot.
The operation was successfully completed within minutes, with the situation brought under control at 1.31 pm and concluded at 1.35 pm.
The boy did not suffer serious injuries.
Once the boy was safely freed and the surroundings secured, the team returned to the station.
