KUCHING: The Bintulu Rugby Football Association (BRFA) is calling for more individuals and corporate partners to support its mission of turning Bintulu into Sarawak’s rugby powerhouse.
BRFA Honorary Secretary, Azrie Szeller, said their recent victories at the Mukah Rugby Carnival 2025 were a testament to the unity, commitment and enduring spirit of rugby in Bintulu.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated sponsors – Trusted Sharks, Tan Sri Associate, and JB Gym – for their continued support and belief in BRFA’s journey.
“We hope more individuals and corporate partners will come forward to help us realise our vision for Bintulu rugby,” he told Sarawak Tribune recently in a statement.
BRFA’s dynamic scrumhalf, Syahir Adib, was named Best Player of the Tournament, while in the Under-17 Category, Nickodymos Usit Michael from Kolej Vokasional Bintulu also earned Best Player honours.
It wasn’t just BRFA making headlines, Bintulu’s rising stars and women’s teams also delivered standout performances.
The SMK Sebauh’s ladies team clinched the Women’s Category title, showcasing tremendous determination, teamwork and heart.
In youth rugby, Kolej Vokasional Bintulu won the U17 Boys Championship, while SMK Sebauh secured third place which further proves that grassroots rugby in Bintulu is thriving.
BRFA proved themselves as a disciplined and united force, culminating in a hard-fought final to lift the Cup and end an 11-year championship drought with a 26-15 win over Tuerto Wear RC.
