NEW DELHI: BRICS member and partner countries, ranging from small nations to global powers, are united in their participation in shaping a new world order, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
“The views of BRICS members do not always align, as the group includes both small states and major global powers such as Russia, China and India, so reaching a consensus is not always possible.”
Phuangketkeow told reporters in New Delhi at a briefing following the conclusion of the BRICS summit, which ended on Sunday.
Nevertheless, the countries are united by a common goal of seeking alternatives and playing a role in shaping the changing world order, the minister said.
Today, BRICS is perceived by countries as the most viable alternative under current conditions, the minister added.
By joining forces, BRICS gains collective weight on the international stage – both politically and economically – allowing member states to clearly state their positions on key global issues, Phuangketkeow said. – BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
