SARIKEI: The Batang Rajang Bridge and Pasi Sarikei road is expected to be completed by March this year.

Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the project, which costs over RM350 million will accelerate infrastructure development and enhance the socio-economic growth of the local population.

“One of the main advantages of this project is that travel time between Sarikei and Bintangor to areas such as Tanjung Manis and its surroundings will be significantly reduced without the need to pass through Sibu.

“This improvement will not only open up more development opportunities but also strengthen connections between Sarawak’s coastal areas,” he said.

He said this during the Chinese New Year 2025 celebration dinner at the Sarikei Central Hall organised by the Sarikei Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He stated that during his more than eight years with the multi-ethnic community, he has worked to improve various infrastructure facilities in Sarikei.

Huang added that he would work closely with Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, to develop the Meradong area and enhance various infrastructure facilities there as they are both responsible for securing allocations from the government for the purpose of developing the area.
