SARIKEI: Two bridges located on Jalan Council Jakar and Jalan Sungai Ribong are set to be upgraded in the near future.

Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said that the existing bridges will be upgraded to steel structures.

Huang, who is also the Repok assemblyman, mentioned that the project is currently in the surveying stage, and the tender will be opened soon.

A site visit was conducted today (Feb 17) morning at both bridges, involving officers from the Repok Service Center, Sarikei District Council (MDS), and the Sarikei District Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).

“The estimated cost for upgrading each bridge is RM350,000.

“These two bridges serve as main routes for residents in the Sungai Ribong and Jalan Council Jakar areas.

“I hope the project management team can successfully implement this high-impact project for the local community, in line with our goal of providing safe and comfortable infrastructure,” he said.

Also present at the site were Repok Service Center officer Anthony Suding, MDS assistant engineer Mohammad Reza, and DID assistant engineer Mary Rittie.
