KUCHING: The Third Infantry Brigade welcomed its new commander, Brigadier General Mohd Sauffi Omar in a ceremony at Penrissen Camp today (May 31).
Mohd Sauffi Omar is the 40th commander to lead the brigade.
The event was attended by Maj Gen Datuk Mohamed Fauzi Kamis, Commander of the First Infantry Division.
Mohd Sauffi took over the reins from Col Mohamed Rosly Darasid, the acting commander through a formal handover and a parade featuring 15 officers and 256 personnel.
Mohd Sauffi, born on September 1, 1971, in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, has had a distinguished 34-year military career. His recent promotion on May 29 reflects his longstanding commitment and service.
His previous assignments include platoon leader in the Fourth Royal Ranger Regiment in 1993, staff officer at the Third Infantry Brigade headquarters in 1995 and commanding officer of the Third Royal Ranger Regiment in 2013.
Mohd Sauffi is married to a Sarawakian Dayang Satiah Awang Siee, the current chairperson of the Third Infantry Brigade’s Armed Forces Family Welfare Body (Bakat), a brigade’s community and family support network.
