SIBU: A man stabbed his own brother and left him near-disemboweled in a fight at an oil palm plantation near here on Saturday.
The fight which ended in a pool of blood was over harvesting areas at the Pasai Siong area here.
According to a statement from Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit yesterday, the victim Irwan Maseng, 31, is an Indonesian citizen working as fruit bunch collector.
Stanley said that the victim was found by his foreman during a routine patrol at the farm area around 10am yesterday.
“He suffered severe injury in the stomach area due to massive cuts and was found lying on the laps of two of his friends,” he said.
The foreman then contacted the assistant plantation manager to help take the victim to Sibu Hospital.
The foreman was informed by an employee that the victim had quarreled with his younger brother over areas to harvest.
Acting on the information, the Sibu Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) team rushed to the scene but the suspect had fled using a motorcycle.
Stanley said the case will be investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code and the police are currently looking for the suspect, 20-year-old Riswan Jumaseng.
