BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei’s Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah underscored that food security has become a global priority amid growing challenges posed by climate change, ecosystem pressures, and geopolitical uncertainties affecting supply chains, reported Xinhua.

Speaking at the opening of the 38th session of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific held near the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, on Thursday, the Crown Prince highlighted that food security extends beyond mere availability.

He said it also encompasses access, proper nutrition, and the resilience of food systems.

The conference serves as an official platform for ministers and senior officials to deliberate on food security issues, while formulating strategic directions aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and integration in the agricultural sector. It enables the country to strengthen networks of cooperation with fellow FAO member states. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
