SIBU: More than 400 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed to residents around Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku during a Ramadan Madrasah Tarbiah Programme, on Friday (Feb 27).
Sibu Bumiputera Economic Welfare Organisation (PERKEB) Chairman, Mohammad Fadzli Jawawi, said the amount distributed exceeded the initial target in light of high demand from the local community.
“Actually, our initial plan was around 300 packs of bubur lambuk.
“However, due to high demand, we increased the number to more than 400 packs,” he said.
The programme was implemented through the collaboration of Sahabat Pengerak Madani Sarawak, Akademi Keneraan Malaysia, PERKEB, Mukah Polytechnic General Studies Department, Darul Halim Mosque Management Committee, Bahagia Jaya Teku Residents Association and Mukah Polytechnic Young Friends Secretariat.
In this regard, Fadzli said the involvement of various NGOs, agencies and volunteers enabled the welfare programme to be implemented smoothly.
Apart from the distribution of bubur lambuk, a total of 65 Ramadan Baskets were donated to the needy around the Kampung Bahagian Jaya Teku area.
“The Ramadan Baskets were donations from acquaintances and friends who wanted to contribute to help those who are fasting and in preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sahabat Pengerak Madani Sarawak Chairman, Zulrusdi Mohd Hol said similar programmes have been carried out throughout Sarawak including in Samarahan, Lundu, Petrajaya and others.
