KUALA LUMPUR: Traditional Sarawak delicacy ‘bubur pedas’ became a symbol of unity as members of the Sarawak community in the peninsula gathered for the MAKSAK Cares programme at the Sarawak Liaison Office here.
The event’s highlight was the participation of Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, wife of Head of State and Patron of Malaysian Government Officers’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Women Sarawak, who joined attendees in preparing the dish, reflecting the spirit of togetherness during Ramadan.
Also present were daughter of the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Dayang Norjihan; MAKSAK Women Sarawak chairperson, Datuk Baduyah Bujang; members of the association; and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
Besides the communal cooking activity, contributions were presented to those in need as part of MAKSAK Cares’ Ramadan outreach efforts.
The programme underscored efforts to preserve Sarawak’s culinary heritage while strengthening ties among the state’s community living away from home.
