KUCHING: Sarawak’s Budget 2026 will prioritise infrastructure while also addressing housing and health services, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He stressed that the state’s needs went beyond social services, stressing that housing and health remained equally important.
“Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian (Deputy Premier and Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister) also wants the cancer centre to be completed quickly so our health services can be further improved,” he told newsmen after officiating at the Prospectus Launch of Insights Analytics Berhad at Hikmah Exchange Convention Centre here today (Oct 7).
The state government will table the budget during the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly sitting in November.
On the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly on Monday, Abang Johari described it as part of the democratic process.
“I wish all the best for them,” he said, adding that he hoped the coming Sabah election would proceed smoothly and campaigns be conducted professionally.
Asked whether Sarawak leaders would assist in the campaign, he replied: “We will see.”
