KUCHING: The state government has expressed its utmost appreciation to the federal government for its prompt action and approval to extend the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) targeted subsidy system to individuals in Sarawak who rely solely on water transport for their daily livelihood and travel, particularly when accessing essential government services in nearby townships.
The recent media statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance, announcing the approval of 1,400 individuals under the first batch of the BUDI95 scheme, based on the list submitted by the Ministry of Transport Sarawak in collaboration with the Resident and District Offices, is warmly welcomed.
Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the Federal Ministry of Finance is currently verifying additional submissions to determine eligibility under the BUDI95 scheme.
“This approval provides much-needed relief to low-income families, enabling them to allocate more of their income toward other essential daily needs,” he said through a press statement yesterday (Oct 14).
“Subsequent approvals will be announced in phases once all conditions and criteria are fulfilled. The ministry has also assured that the verification process will be expedited,” he said.
He further urged all individuals who have yet to register for BUDI95 eligibility to do so through their nearest Resident or District Office.
This, he said, will ensure that those who depend on water transport for their daily needs are not left out and can fully benefit from the BUDI MADANI RON95 targeted subsidy system programme.
