LUNDU: The development of houses of worship. Including churches, in Opar will continue.
Efforts are ongoing to secure additional funding to meet current project needs.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang reaffirmed his commitment to ensure such developments are carried out effectively, including obtaining extra funds where necessary.
He said the new St Jacob Chapel project in Kampung Temaga Dayak had received initial funding, but the amount remains insufficient to cover the total estimated cost of about RM1 million.
Billy assured that he would continue efforts to secure additional funding to ensure the project is fully completed for the benefit of the local community.
“Once completed, the chapel will not only provide a more comfortable place of worship, but also serve as a centre for strengthening spiritual values, unity and family ties within the community,” he said during the blessing and groundbreaking ceremony for the project here recently.
He also expressed appreciation for the strong cooperation shown by the church and the local community in making the event a success.
Earlier, Billy presented additional funding amounting to RM200,000 from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR).
