Bumi Kenyalang Taekwondo squad eyes gold at Heroes Cup

SIBU: Eleven taekwondo athletes from the Bumi Kenyalang Taekwondo Association are aiming to bring home a gold medal at the 7th Heroes International Taekwondo Cup 2025 next week.

The competition is scheduled for Aug 7 to 10 at Nilai Indoor Stadium, Negeri Sembilan.

The team, led by team manager Chiu Mei Ling and coaches Wong Yong Sing and Tan Chong Sheng, will depart from Sibu on Aug 6.

The association’s adviser, who is also the adviser to the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU), Datuk Seri Lau Kong Chai, together with sponsors Datuk Lau Kong Shan, Lee Ngie Soon and Lau Kong Ting, organised a special flag presentation ceremony here last night (Aug 1) to boost morale and show their support for the team.

At the event, they also handed over sponsorship funds to the team.

In his speech, Lau encouraged the athletes to cherish this valuable opportunity for real competition, to give their utmost effort to achieve good results, and to gain valuable experience from the tournament to prepare themselves for bigger stages in the future.

The team comprises six male athletes, Wong Shou Ho, Ting Foo Wei, Ting Zhong Sheng, Jarren Yong, Yong Zhen Yu and Darwisy Hakim Muhammad Noor Zaidee and five female athletes, Yong Yin Xin, Sii Qing Wee, Law Xin Yu, Nur Fathia Naazreen Mohammad Fadillah and Octavianne Nicley Landan Nicholas.
