KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia maintained its uptrend at midmorning, tracking regional markets and supported by persistent buying in selected heavyweight stocks.
At 11.00 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 10.52 points to 1,743.35.
The benchmark opened 11.91 points higher at 1,744.74, following Friday’s close of 1,732.83.
On the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 612 to 285, while 444 counters were unchanged, 1,322 untraded and 18 suspended. Market turnover stood at 1.29 billion shares worth RM726.22 million.
Among heavyweights, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) rose six sen to RM12.00, Public Bank Bhd gained one sen to RM4.98, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd climbed six sen to RM8.52, Tenaga Nasional Bhd added 14 sen to RM14.08, and IHH Healthcare Bhd advanced 12 sen to RM8.92.
On the most active list, Zetrix AI increased 7.5 sen to 76 sen, MMAG was flat at five sen, Ambest rose two sen to 36.5 sen, Capital A edged up 1.5 sen to 58.5 sen, and Pharmaniaga Bhd gained half a sen to 30 sen.
Top gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, up RM1.38 to RM31.78; Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, up 98 sen to RM33.92; United Plantations Bhd, up 68 sen to RM29.68; Hong Leong Industries Bhd, up 52 sen to RM17.36; and Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, up 50 sen to RM33.50.
Leading decliners were Nestlé (Malaysia) Bhd, down 30 sen to RM112.00; Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd, down 14 sen to RM22.42; Hextar Technologies Solutions Bhd, down seven sen to RM1.10; and Hong Leong Bank Bhd, down six sen to RM24.84.
On the index board, the FBM Top 100 Index rose 87.29 points to 12,558.28, the FBM Emas Index gained 87.65 points to 12,727.34, the FBM Mid 70 Index advanced 173.05 points to 17,407.17, the FBM Emas Shariah Index climbed 110.83 points to 12,216.32, and the FBM ACE Index added 44.19 points to 4,674.98.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index strengthened 83.13 points to 21,560.07, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 2.40 points to 175.87, the Plantation Index grew 31.63 points to 8,355.26, and the Energy Index recovered two points to 741.01. – BERNAMA
