Bus terminal expected to be ready by year-end

MIRI: The Miri Sentral Bus Terminal project along the Miri Bypass Road is expected to be completed end of December this year.

State Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the RM26 million project is presently about 97 per cent complete.

Lee said this on Monday after conducting a visit to the project’s site.

“The construction should be finish by next month, and before handing over this project to Miri City Council (MCC), the contractor needs to do some rectification work,” he told local media.

Also present was Miri Mayor Adam Yii.

This new bus terminal will be an essential long distance transportation hub for Miri as it will house 21 bus bays including for tourist buses.

“And in future we might have buses from Indonesia,” said Lee, adding that other facilities include parking space, including for e-hailing vehicles.

On another matter, Lee disclosed that his ministry has put up proposals for the extension of three roads, namely Jalan Cahaya, Pujut Link Road and Jalan Padang Kerbau.
