KUCHING: Former Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following a Cabinet portfolio reshuffle, marking the end of his three-year tenure at the Ministry of Health.
Expressing his appreciation, Lukanisman thanked the Ministry of Health (MoH), particularly frontline healthcare workers, for their tireless efforts in ensuring the smooth delivery of healthcare services to the public.
“The past three years have been challenging, but they have also brought immense benefits to me as a member of the government,” he said.
Reflecting on his tenure, Lukanisman said that over the past three years, he had worked closely with both federal and Sarawak health teams to review health policies, with the aim of granting greater autonomy and narrowing gaps in healthcare infrastructure.
He noted that under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13), several hospital and clinic projects are expected to take off, including the establishment of invasive cardiology laboratories in Miri and Sibu, preliminary works for the new Kapit Hospital, and early-stage development of additional buildings at Sibu Hospital and Limbang Hospital.
Other planned projects include the Betong Health Complex, Mukah Health Complex, additional building planning for Bintulu Hospital, as well as the construction of clinics in Kidurong, Long San, Julau, Sepupok and Tanjung Manis (TAHo).
Lukanisman also expressed hope that long-awaited MoH facilities such as Petra Jaya Hospital, Tabuan Jaya Clinic, Sibutan Clinic and Lawas Hospital would be implemented, alongside more than 50 replacement clinics under the Dilapidated Clinic Project in Sabah.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to have served alongside the Ministry of Health over the past three years,” he said.
