KUCHING: Police arrested a man suspected of stealing cables following a public tip-off at Lorong Layang-Layang, Jalan Astana, on Monday (Nov 10).
He was arrested at 10.30 am by the crime prevention patrol team from Gita Police Station, which led to the seizure of several items believed to have been used in the theft.
Among the items confiscated were a 50cm parang without a handle, a pair of black and yellow Ingco gloves, and a 7½-foot blue iron rod reportedly used to steal from a hut.
A urine test later confirmed that the suspect tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Police have urged the public to continue cooperating by reporting any suspicious activities or information on criminal acts to the district police headquarters control centre at 082-244444 or the nearest police station.
