DARO: Women in Daro have been urged to seize opportunities to empower themselves economically and entrepreneurially through various development initiatives available in the area.
Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad encouraged women to fully utilise the facilities provided by upcoming projects such as the Anjung Usahawan Daro and Bangunan Pasar Tani Kekal.
He viewed these projects as strategic platforms that could significantly benefit local entrepreneurs, particularly women.
“Women play a crucial role in community development.
“Through programmes like these, we not only equip them with practical skills but also build their confidence and competitiveness to thrive in entrepreneurship,” he said.
He was officiating at the closing ceremony of the Woman Skills Training (WST) Outreach @ Daro course on Wednesday (Apr 16).
The event also featured a Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri event as a token of appreciation for women’s contributions to local community development.
The WST course, jointly organised by the Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS), the Daro Service Centre, and the Exco of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Daro branch, focused on three main training areas — culinary arts, beauty and spa therapy, and sewing.
The programme aims to enhance women’s economic capabilities and entrepreneurial skills.
During the event, Safiee also handed over financial contributions to the Daro Women’s Bureau to support the implementation of their community activities.
