BAU: Bung Bratak Day, celebrated annually, should be promoted more extensively and vigorously on the international stage to draw greater interest, particularly from foreign tourists, said Opar assemblyman, Billy Sujang.
He called on the Bung Bratak Heritage Association to play a vital role in efforts to introduce the beauty and historical value of Bung Bratak to the world.
“Bung Bratak not only holds high historical and cultural value but also has great potential as a tourist destination and youth recreational centre,” he said when officiating at the Bung Bratak Day celebration ceremony at the Bung Bratak Heritage Centre in Kampung Tembawang Sauh here on Thursday.
He also said that the Bung Bratak Heritage Centre needs to be upgraded to better accommodate a larger number of visitors.
In line with this, the government has allocated RM1 million to upgrade the electricity supply in the area, which previously relied solely on generators.
“With this improvement, more activities can be carried out at the Bung Bratak Heritage Centre for the benefit of the local community and visitors,” he added.
The 2025 Bung Bratak Day celebration was enlivened with various exciting events including traditional Bidayuh dance and music performances, folk games, handicraft sales, and a hiking activity up Bung Bratak via the designated trail.
