MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dato Dennis Ngau has urged committee members of Sarawak Kayan Association (PKS) branches in the state to play a more active role in reaching out to the rural Kayans.
“One of the aims is to promote the government’s development agenda; this includes the just recently launched the Central Database Hub (PADU),” he said on Saturday.
Dennis was speaking at a dinner programme hosted by PKS Sarawak Kuching branch.
“I understand that 700,000 out of 22 million of Malaysians aged 18 and above have registered with PADU since its launching by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“It is crucial that PKS members help to spread words about PADU to Kayans who are residing in the rural areas in the state,” he told the crowd.
Dennis believed that many Kayans in the rural areas had no knowledge of PADU.
The new initiative by the federal government is to ensure the efficient delivery of targeted subsidies as part of its bid to eradicate hardcore poverty in Malaysia.
At the event, Dennis pledged a RM10,000 grant to PKS Kuching branch.
