KUCHING: The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi today received a courtesy call from a Cambodian delegation at the Astana Negeri Sarawak.
The visit, held at noon, was part of the delegation’s official working trip to Sarawak from August 12 to 15.
The delegation was led by Senior Minister in charge of the Special Mission for Islamic Affairs and Special Envoy of the Cambodian Prime Minister to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Neak Oknha Datuk Dr Othsman Hassan, who is also the President of the Cambodian Muslim Development Foundation (CMDF).
He was accompanied by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Coordinator for Regional Development Agency, DBKU and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
Also present were H.E. Mr Rofy Othsman, Member of Parliament and Vice-President of CMDF; H.E. Mr Nasiet Othsman, Adviser to the Royal Government of Cambodia and President of the Cambodian Muslim Youth Federation; and H.E. Mr Aly Mosa, Adviser to the Royal Government of Cambodia and Member of the Cabinet of Senior Minister Othsman Hassan.
During the meeting, Wan Junaidi described the courtesy call as a symbol of friendship and high regard between Sarawak and Cambodia.
He also received two books from Othsman Hassan entitled ‘Religious Harmony and Peaceful Coexistence: Cambodia Experience’ and ‘A Collection of Photos of The Coordinating Mission To Release The 47 Malaysian Victims Who Have Been Detained in Banteay Meanchey Province Cambodia (09-17 February 2019)’ .
He emphasised the importance of continuing close ties through strategic cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, culture, and community development.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah were also invited to make an official visit to Cambodia as a reciprocal courtesy call.
Concluding the meeting, Wan Junaidi expressed confidence that relations between Sarawak and Cambodia would continue to grow stronger for mutual benefit, in line with the spirit of mutual respect and harmonious regional cooperation.
