SIBU: The Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary Services Sibu (DVS), organised an Anti-Rabies Vaccination, Microchip, and Licensing Programme at the Bawang Assan village library today (Nov 23).

Lau speaks at the event.

SRDC Environment and Public Health Standing Committee chairman, Cr Kevin Lau Kor Jie, officiated at the event.

Lau said that this was the sixth such programme conducted by SRDC in Sekuau, Selangau, Durin and Rantau Panjang.

“As of October, DVS has administered 1,612 vaccination shots, including boosters, across Sibu.

“Today’s joint programme with DVS has seen 230 vaccinations, and we urge local residents to take advantage of these services. Rabies remains a serious threat, and preventive measures are crucial,” added Lau, who is also the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan branch chief.
