KUCHING: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) conducted a capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening staff capabilities ahead of its Retreat 2026, taking place from January 23 to 26.
The workshop, titled ‘Enhancing Capabilities for the Future’ and facilitated by Coach Ariff Azahari, was held as an early preparatory programme to equip YPS staff for in-depth discussions on the organisation’s Strategic Plan 2026-2030 during the retreat.
YPS Chief Executive, Datuk Aloysius J. Dris, said the workshop was designed to challenge staff to think critically, strengthen discipline and prepare them for higher expectations in their roles.
“Your role carries responsibilities, and every task contributes to YPS’ credibility and impact in the workplace and among the people you serve,” he said in his opening remarks at the workshop on Thursday.
According to YPS, the workshop focused on cultivating a growth mindset, improving the articulation and development of ideas, strengthening leadership skills and adopting structured and collaborative approaches to resolving internal challenges, problems and crises.
The programme also aimed to empower staff to be more positive and confident in expressing ideas, views and constructive feedback for the overall improvement of the organisation.
The workshop forms part of the broader YPS Retreat 2026, during which staff will deliberate on the organisation’s five-year strategic direction, including the design of impactful and inclusive programmes and activities.
These initiatives are expected to align with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, with an emphasis on engaging youth and senior communities across Sarawak and Malaysia.
YPS expressed optimism that the outcomes of the retreat would further benefit the community by strengthening unity and social cohesion in line with the state’s development aspirations.
