Car carrier crashes into parked timber trailer

MUKAH: An accident involving two lorries occurred at Kilometre 97 of Jalan Sibu-Bintulu, Sepiring, early this morning, causing damage to one of the vehicles, but no injuries were reported.

Mukah Police Chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the incident took place at 12:13 am when a car carrier travelling from Selangau towards Bintulu lost control and rammed into the rear of a timber-laden trailer parked on the roadside.

Preliminary investigation found that the car carrier sustained front-end damage while the timber trailer was left unscathed.

The driver of the car carrier escaped unharmed. Meanwhile, police said the driver and owner of the timber trailer had yet to come forward.

The accident did not disrupt traffic flow in the area. Police have informed the Forest Department of Sarawak (FDS) Bintulu Division) regarding the timber load for further action.

The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59).
