MIRI: A BMW car was destroyed in a fire at a logistics compound here, late on Monday night (Mac 2).
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at about 11.15pm regarding a vehicle on fire at Li Sing Logistic in Piasau.
A team from the Miri Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched immediately and the firefighters arrived at the scene within seven minutes, after travelling approximately seven kilometres.
By the time firefighters reached the location, the vehicle was already fully engulfed in flames. The team deployed one auxiliary hose line with a nozzle, as well as a 100-foot hose line using foam and water from the fire engine, to bring the blaze under control and extinguish it.
The operation ended shortly after midnight, at around 12.15am. No injuries were reported and no other vehicles or nearby structures were affected.
The cause of the fire and the extent of financial losses are still under investigation.
Eight personnel were involved in the operation, supported by one Fire Rescue Tender and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services vehicle.
